Nationally esteemed construction company helps communities repair in the aftermath of torrential hail and wind storms

Haymarket, Va. — Venture Construction Group (VCG) continues to provide extensive emergency storm damage repairs, roof repairs, roof replacements, and free inspections after numerous storms devastated multiple areas in Virginia, Maryland, and the D.C Metro area last month, causing unprecedented damage. According to the Washington Post, the June 6 storm produced severe winds and baseball-sized hail that wreaked havoc across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C., and has been reported as the region’s most intense storm this year. Adding to the damage, an EF0 tornado touched down and tracked 12.75 miles across Western Howard County, Maryland on June 21 after severe thunderstorms hit the area, according to NOAA’s Weather Service.

According to The Washington Post, extreme winds during the June 6 storm reached 75 mph, causing uprooted trees that devastated vehicles, properties, and power lines, with five tornado warnings being issued by the National Weather Service. Numerous reports included severe damage to properties, roofs, windows in Middleburg and Haymarket, VA.

“This is the worst storm season I have seen since the storm of 1999! These hail and wind storms caused extensive damage, uprooted trees, properties and vehicles dented up by hail, blown off roofs, damaged siding, and in some cases windows blown out from the severe wind! My family has been in Northern Virginia since the early 1900’s, so we are used to severe weather here, but this is looking like a record year,” Stephen Shanton, CEO & President Venture Construction Group.

According to NOAA’s Weather Service, the EF0 tornado that touched down on June 21st caused trees to uproot and wreaked havoc in the area, causing extensive property damage.  The NOAA Weather Service categorizes an EF0 tornado as having wind speeds from 65 to 85 mph. The weather during this storm was so severe that the National Weather Service issued an unprecedented 48 severe weather warnings, according to The Washington Post.

“The tornado really did a lot of damage in Aldie, Gainesville, Haymarket, Middleburg,  Va. including surrounding areas of Howard, Columbia and Ellicott Counties. Our crews have been quite busy conducting property inspections, emergency services, assessments, and hail and wind damage repairs in these areas,” says Shanton.

The June hail and wind storms added to the serious damages from the May 2 record supercell hail storm that affected Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.
